“ΝΥΧΤΟΣ ΤΕΛΕΤΗΣΙΝ” (SACRIFICIA NOCTURNA) , subtitled "20 years of recordings 1993-2013", is the title of the new KAWIR release on Those Opposed, the gods of hellenic pagan black metal.

Once again, it is an honor to continue the work with Kawir which has begun in 2008 with the release of the Ophiolatreia album.

The first CD contains 13 tracks, all the 7” eps + 2 unreleased tracks.
The second CD contains 12 tracks, a live multitrack recording from the last rehearsal in March 2013 before their 20th anniversary show in Athens.
Many prominent figures from the hellenic scene of 90's participate as guests in this release. (Acherontas, Agatus, Zemial)

1: split EP with Sigh, 1994
2-3: Eumenides EP, 1994
4: from To Cavirs MLP 1995, which is a different version than the one on To Cavirs CD edition
5: unreleased track recorded in 1995
6: split EP with Zemial, 2003
7: split EP with Nocternity, 2003
8-9: promo 2007. This is the 2-track promo CD that Therthonax sent me in 2007 when I asked if we could work together. These tracks later appeared on the Ophiolatreia album but re-recorded. You never heard those versions of "Ares" and "Poseidon".
10: different and unreleased mix of Sword of Dardanus, still with Sakis of Rotting Christ on guest vocals.
11: split EP with SCYTHIAN, 2011
12: split LP with EMBRACE OF THORNS, SOULSKINNER, NERGAL, 2012
13: unreleased track recorded in 2010

CD2 (12 tracks, 70 minutes)
1-10: last rehearsal before their 20th anniversary show in Athens, the basic line-up being Therthonax (guitars), Filipos (guitars), Phaesphoros (vocals, who recorded Isotheos), Ormenos (drums, from Borgne, who also recorded Isotheos) and Askalaphos (bass). Many prominent figures from the hellenic scene of 90's participate as guests in this release:
-Acherontas VP from ACHERONTAS - vocals on "Artemis" and "Hermes"
-Hildr Valkyrie, sessions with Nocternity on keyboards, female vocals on Helrunar, Elffor, To Uranus from Kawir - vocals on "Sinn" and "To Cavirs"
-RW Draconium from CHAOSBAPHOMET, EMPIRE OF THE MOON - vocals on "Hecate's and Ianos" and "To Cavirs"

11-12: new tracks
-Archon Vorskaath from ZEMIAL, drums on "Thanatos"
-Eskarth from AGATUS, guitar solos on "Thanatos"

You have to listen to believe. Extraordinary great blend of black metal with quite raw vocals and folk with rousing melodies. And on top of that it's Greek without a doubt and in both regards. All this makes Kawir so unique. mourner

The most violent sind aggressive release of Kawir that I've listened to yet. They clearly reduced the folk influences but with the remaining melodies they still keep the epicness, especially towards the end of the album. The higher level of fierceness suits them very well. So does the overall darker tone. The guitars are as magical as ever with Kawir, riff after riff after riff... mourner
